Privacy policy

BackTrackCo runs this store and website to give customers a straightforward shopping experience. Shopify powers the backend. This Privacy Policy covers what information we collect about you, why we collect it, and when we share it with others.

If this Policy ever conflicts with our Terms & Conditions, this one wins on anything data-related.

Read it when you can. Continuing to use the site means you're comfortable with what's described here.

What We Collect

"Personal information" means anything that ties back to you as an individual. Anonymized or de-identified data doesn't count. Here's what we may have on you, depending on how you use the site and where you live:

Your name, home address, phone number, and email. Billing and shipping addresses if they differ. Card details, transaction records, and payment confirmation. Your login credentials, saved preferences, and security questions. Everything you've viewed, added to your cart, purchased, returned, or cancelled. Any messages you've sent to our support team. Your IP address, browser type, and device identifiers. General browsing behavior while on our site.

Where It Comes From

Most of it comes straight from you when you sign up, place an order, or reach out to us. Some are picked up automatically when you browse, through cookies and similar tools. A portion comes from the service providers we work with. Occasionally, from outside partners.

What We Do With It

We use it to run the store. That means taking orders, processing payments, getting parcels out the door, managing returns, and keeping accounts working properly. It also covers personalizing your experience, recommending things based on what you've actually bought, not just generic suggestions.

We use it for marketing too. Emails; SMS messages; and online ads, including retargeted ads that follow up after you've visited. We use it for fraud prevention and account security. To meet legal requirements when needed. And to respond when you get in touch.

Who We Share It With

We don't sell your personal information. Full stop. We do share it with:

Shopify hosts our store and processes data under their own privacy policy. Service providers who handle payments, shipping, IT support, analytics, and customer service. Marketing partners who help us serve ads, including across other websites. Our affiliates. Anyone acquiring the business if BackTrackCo is ever sold or merged. Law enforcement or courts, when the law requires it.

If you'd rather we not share your data for targeted advertising, you can opt out at any time via the link in this policy.

Our Relationship With Shopify

Shopify hosts the store, which means they handle a lot of how your data gets processed. Anything you submit here passes through Shopify and may end up with their partners in other countries. They also draw on data from your activity across their merchant network, not just our store, to improve their platform. When that happens, Shopify is the data controller, not us. Their Consumer Privacy Policy has the details, and you can manage your rights directly through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Third-Party Links

We occasionally link to other websites. We have no control over them and no responsibility for their privacy practices. Check their policies before you share anything.

Children

This store isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of majority in their country. If your child has given us their information, email us at info@backtrackco.com and we'll remove it.

Security and Retention

We take reasonable precautions with your data, but no system is entirely secure. Don't send sensitive information over unsecure channels.

We keep your data for as long as we actually need it to run your account, deliver services, handle disputes, or comply with the law. Once it's no longer needed, it goes.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may be able to:

Ask us what personal information we hold on you. Request that we delete it. Ask us to correct anything that's wrong. Get a copy of your data to take elsewhere. Opt out of your data being used for targeted ads or sold to third parties; use the opt-out link in this policy. Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any point using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.

We won't treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. We may need to verify who you are before acting on a request. You can also authorize someone else to make requests on your behalf; we'll need confirmation they're acting with your permission.

To action any of these rights, email us at info@backtrackco.com.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, contact us first. We will do our best to address your concerns and resolve any issues promptly.

SMS and MMS Marketing, Privacy

If you've signed up for our text messaging program, your phone number is used only to send those messages and follow up on any replies. It gets shared only with vendors who help deliver the messages, carriers, platform providers, and that kind of thing.

We do not sell, rent, lend, lease, or trade phone numbers or any information collected through this program to outside parties. That's not something we do.

We may share information if a law or regulation requires it or to protect our rights. If the information you provided to join the program turns out to be false or misleading, we reserve the right to remove you from it.

California and EU residents may have specific rights around how their information is used for direct marketing. Get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

SMS and MMS Marketing, Terms

Signing up for our text program means agreeing to receive automated marketing messages at the number you provided. You don't need to sign up to shop with us. consent to texts is never a condition of purchase.

To stop receiving messages, reply STOP to any text we send. You'll likely get one final confirmation, then nothing more. Texting something else or verbally asking a team member to remove you doesn't count as a valid opt-out; STOP is the way to do it.

How often messages go out varies depending on how you interact with us. Normal carrier rates may apply.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this when things change. The revised version goes up on this page with a new date. We'll notify you as required by law.
